Frances’ style is journalistic, and she believes that her images should have emotions – your grandparents holding hands as you walk down the aisle, the single tear that falls down your fathers face as he gives you away, and the impromptu laughter you share with all your best girlfriends. She strives to create images at each and every wedding that portrays the relationships you have with your family and friends. To provide you with documented images of your wedding day with minimal direction or posing is the ultimate goal.
What Style of Photography do you do?
Frances captures weddings in a very journalistic and documentive style and while she is very hands-off and unobtrusive in her coverage of the day she does believe that there is a time and place for gorgeous, casually posed images of the bride and groom together. Although, she would like to have some time alone with the bride and groom without the bridal party or family to create some images, other times she will capture the events of the day as they happen without stopping you to pose for pictures. Frances also believes strongly in capturing all of the details of the wedding that you spent years trying to put together to create this amazing wedding day…… your cake, your shoes, the flowers, the venue, the location and the rings. Her images of the guests at the wedding are almost 100% journalistic as she captures them laughing, smiling, dancing, drinking, and having a great time.
Do we need to provide you with a “shot list” or will you do posed family portraits as well?
A few weeks before your wedding Frances will send you a questionnaire covering the wedding day timeline, a list of traditional family images or friend groups you would like to have captured. Although, this is not your standard “shot list”, you will be able to let Frances know you would like her to pay special attention to certain guests. Please remember, you have trusted Frances to capture your day as it unfolds naturally with a journalistic style and additional time spent on numerous family groupings and gathering guests for photos will take away from documenting the family dynamic as it happens.
TRAVEL AND COVERAGE
Do you work with a second shooter?
The wedding day in it’s entirety from preparations to the end of the evening is photographed by Frances with her creative eye and unobtrusive style. Frances works with a second shooter who helps with gear, lighting, and managing groups for family formals. The second shooter will capture wide angles at the ceremony, candids of guests while Frances photographs the main events. The second shooter will photograph cocktail hour candids while Frances photographs reception details, but Frances is the only one actually taking the pictures on your wedding day.
Will all the images be completely edited and ready for printing?
Yes every image has been post processed and edited one at a time and the editing is done by Frances and her creative eye with special attention to a select few.
Are you available for Travel and do you charge travel fees?
Frances lives in Caledon, Ontario and will photograph locally from the Niagara, Toronto, London, and the Muskoka area. Frances has been to the Canadian Rockies, The Caribbean, the United States and Europe to photograph events and is very comfortable travelling internationally to cover weddings. Travel fees do not apply for areas locally to Toronto, but overnight fees may apply for events lasting 10+ hours.
You are responsible for airfare and hotel and rental car if needed in addition to your chosen Wedding Collection.
Can we get the black and white images in colour?
Unfortunately, the images in black and white or sepia are only available that way. If you would like more colour images and less black and white images in your coverage please let us know before the wedding is photographed.
Are you able to shoot in a different style?
The images in the website and blog galleries are recent images you will receive on your wedding day and reflect Frances’ style. Beautiful, emotional images with mood and texture. If what you’re looking for is a more staged style of photography with evenly lit images then Frances might not be the photographer for you. She uses a great deal of shadow, light and contrast in her natural light images as well as her flash/lit images during the receptions. Please make sure that you look through all of her sample galleries provided when you inquire with her to make sure that the style you see in the galleries reflects the style that you want for your wedding day photography.
How long does it take to get our products and images?
Online galleries are posted 6-8 weeks of the wedding date but usually sooner. The edited digital files are delivered within 3 months of the wedding date on a USB Drive. You will have up to one year to choose images for your custom wedding album before a small fee is applied to compensate for market costs.
How many pictures will we get?
The number of photographs taken depends on the number of guests, hours of coverage, type of event. We average a photograph a minute with a minimum of 500 images, but because you’re hiring a journalistic style photographer, often it’s much, much higher.
Do we get to keep the negatives?
We provide the selected, edited high-resolution digital files downloadable through our proofing gallery and USB Drive. We do retain the copyright to the images and the right to use them for promotional purposes, competition, and so on. A written release is available if needed for printing that will allow you to make unlimited personal reproductions and copies for your friends and families.
How do we design the custom Album?
Frances will provide you with a completed custom designed wedding album using the images from your wedding day that best tell the story from preparations to the end of the evening. Frances will then allow 3 layout changes and image swaps before the final rendition is signed off and sent to the printers. The entire process is done easily online and via email. Once you choose your images it takes about four weeks to complete your first layout and each round of changes generally takes two business weeks to complete.

Do you do engagement sessions?
Yes, I do. I find it extremely important to have a connection with my couples and this is the best way to do it. This also gives you fantastic casual portraits of the two of you without the wedding day stress.
BUSINESS AND DETAILS
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes. We are a fully insured and a registered business.
What kind of equipment do you use?
Top of the line professional Nikon equipment and extensive backups.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Absolutely! Whatever lighting situation comes our way, we are prepared to handle it using the best equipment ready to handle natural low light and flash equipment to handle difficult lighting situations.
My venue needs a certificate of insurance. Can you provide that?
Yes. We do request that you let us know at least two months in advance of the wedding as it does take time for our insurance company to process and provide that document.
Do you have a lot of experience or education with wedding photography?
Yes, I am completely qualified. Art Diploma from BealArt with a major in photography. Graduated Sheridan College with photography diploma and I take 2 workshops every year to keep up with new styles and trends. I started out in photography shooting families and children and that experience alone has led me to be the wedding photographer I am today. The one who can capture your parents holding hands while you say your vows, the one who gets the photographs of your grandmother shedding a tear during the ceremony and I’m also the one who gets the laughter between your best girlfriends or the sweet kiss you give your daughter.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual wedding?
Yes! When you hire Frances Morency Photography you get me as the primary photographer. In the rare instance that I should become sick or unable to shoot, I guarantee a replacement shooter with the same shooting style and qualifications to fill in. We belong to a network of Wedding Photographers across the GTA so a capable replacement shooter is a phone call away.
Can you hold the date for me?
I’m sorry, but to be fair to everyone we can’t “hold” a date without a retainer and a signed contract. We accept bookings on a first come/first served basis.
What is your payment schedule like?
A booking fee/retainer of approx. $1000.00 is due to reserve your date. The remainder is due 1 week prior to your wedding.
I have to cancel my wedding. Can I have my retainer back?
Unfortunately, the retainer fee and all monies paid are non-refundable. The retainer guarantees that we will hold the date exclusively for you and once you’ve signed the contract we do turn down all other commissions for that date.
Do we need to feed you at the reception?
I would really appreciate it. It doesn’t have to be the same as your sit-down meal (many caterers offer “vendor meals” ) We prefer to be fed when you are fed, not afterwards, because when you are eating you’re not at your most photogenic and when you’re done, we want to be done as well to continue your coverage. Seating Frances near the dance floor is the optimal location so that she may continue working during meal service.
Can our family and friends take pictures with their cameras?
Of course they can and it doesn’t bother Frances at all! She would really appreciate it if she was allowed to take the posed photograph first then Frances would allow anyone else who would like to take photographs. You will also appreciate all eyes facing my camera for your final images as well. Frances does not allow family or friends to come along for the bridal images or the images of you two alone for privacy purposes and no distractions. She welcomes other cameras during dancing, cake cutting.
