A Collingwood bride who planned a wedding in a couple of months at The Millcroft Inn knew exactly what she wanted from a journalistic photographer. I chatted with her and her sister Frances and we hit it off right away as we planned a winter wedding at The Millcroft Inn & Spa. I was free and looking forward to another winter wedding at this stunning property and although we didn’t have any snow fall this day the Millcroft was still in a winter wonderland and the falls were iced over perfectly.
A winter wedding scene by the falls at The Millcroft Inn
The view from the other side of the falls is just as spectacular.
Walking out of the wedding garden hand in hand at The Millcroft Inn and Spa
Walking back to the Millcroft Inn for the ceremony and quickly stopped for a photo from the front of the falls.
Such a great location for winter when you can still get a little green in the photos from all the beautiful pine trees on the property intertwined with stone ruins.
It took just a few pointers and couple of minutes for these two to warm up in front of the camera and give me exactly what I needed for beautiful images especially when they could barely hear me over the rumble of the falls.
There’s a little opening in the trees next to the lake that I love for the gorgeous light every single time.
As I ask my bride to gently guide him out of the woods down the path she lovingly looks back at him as he produces a huge smile.
As they walk right by me I capture the hand holding and smile on his face.
I start with them looking in the same direction……
Then I ask them to put their heads together…….
Then I remind them to use their hands and I can get multiple images in one position.
Another little nook I like to use at the Millcroft for the formal camera aware portraits that all moms want and need from every wedding.
I love the rustic garden shed at the Millcroft Inn as it makes the perfect backdrop for photos and the little orange leaves that stick around on the trees in the back are just a bonus to give depth to the woods.
