Low light weddings in really quaint restaurants with great character and really awesome couples are what I’m all about. Journalistic photography is about capturing the mood and feel of the day as it’s happening showing the wedding day as it is. These two got married by candle light at George’s Restaurant downtown Toronto. They invited everyone they cared about and had a beautiful intimate ceremony by candle and window light then a really fun, loud, active reception. The bride got ready in one of the many rooms upstairs with great french doors and courtyard with her bridesmaids and mom by her side. The groom hung out in the building too with his best man waiting anxiously to marry this stunning lady.
This bird cage veil with feathers suited her perfectly and I photographed her from above by window light with the 85mm 1.4 at f1.4 making sure to focus on the eye and not the veil.
Her mom by her side the entire time as she got into her blush pink wedding gown in from of the french doors in her suite.
Mom was making sure that everything was absolutely perfect for her daughters wedding day and that meant fixing every layer of her wedding dress.
I love corset dresses and lacy up the dress is always a welcome challenge as it allows me time to photograph what is going on around her.
The wedding dress photographed in this stunning bridal suite upstairs above George’s Restaurant
There were many meeting rooms not being used upstairs and I had the pleasure of picking rooms with the best light to photograph everything including the bride and groom on this gloomy rainy day.
Bridal preparations is one of my favourite times of day for photography as it allows me to capture journalistic moments with the women that mean the most to the bride. This is the time of day moms cherish and it should be remembered in photos and sisters or best girlfriends will offer emotional support and kind words during this time of day.
If I can grab this shot at every wedding it would make me happy, but rarely do I get a bride and room worthy of this light and moment like she was.
I asked the bride to put on her finishing details in front of the window in order to use that great light an that way I can get quite a few different looks all in one spot.
I handed her her flowers for this quick full length shot before she walked down the aisle.
This bride was beaming walking down the aisle with her parents and was able to acknowledge her guests at this intimate venue.
This restaurant had beautiful backlight that allowed me to do this silhouette of their ceremony.
They got married in a very unique, quaint, and lovely restaurant atmosphere with beautiful chandeliers and candle light.
The intensity of his gaze here says it all as the officiant asks them to say their vows.
Her gorgeous blush pink dress was stunning in this light and suited her personality perfectly.
I wish the officiant had handed off the marriage license to the best man so that it wasn’t in all their photos walking down the aisle together but still amazing reactions from my bride and groom.
I love when my couples are excited and obviously happy to be married as they walk down the aisle together
and when they look back at me …….. priceless.
It was a rainy day and we were lucky to have such an incredible location and venue to be able to get some photos indoors. There were numerous rooms we could use and a lot of window light available.
This room is large and with a wall full of windows the ideal location for family photos and portraits.
The flower girl having the run of the room and no way were we going to stop her for a photo….so why not capture this moment for your bride and groom.
Quiet moments were had by the flower girl as she looks out the window holding a rose from the bouquet.
With my experience as a documentary family and child photographer, I know to wait for moments like these while still keeping an eye on my bride and groom getting ready for the next photo……I was able to capture this.
and this when she finally notices the camera…….
This little ring bearer was all smiles all day long and also gravitated to the window where I caught this moment.
Of course, I took a formal face forward photo of these bridesmaids but this was them!!!! and this is the photo that best describes the relationship these friends have together.
Gorgeous rooms at George Restaurant for indoor, window light photography
This blush pink wedding gown was stunning on this bride.
I love emotional father daughter dances. They can tell you so much about a family.
and……mother son dances never disappoint either especially with this mom.
but…..when it comes to the bride and groom these two had it all. Laughter, emotion, kissing and holding each other tight.
Now, who doesn’t want to get the party started with the bride singing rap karaoke on her wedding day. Yes please!!!!!
Karaoke and dance moves to boot! You can tell that this group were not strangers to karaoke bars and having a good time with friends.
and a fun around the table game to get everyone talking to each other before the party begins.
No one can get down like a bride at her own party especially if she’s got her wonder woman kicks on.
the girls with ugly teeth done with chocolate obviously not their first time either.
