This September wedding had glorious weather, beautiful grounds for journalistic photography and a wedding gown to die for and a bride and groom so great together that they couldn’t help but make great images in a journalistic style on their wedding day. It was hot and after moving to multiple locations on the property because of other weddings we were ready to go inside and party. The staff lovely and efficient and the food really good to kick off a great dance party at this very popular wedding venue in Toronto.
Her day started with bridal prep at The Vaughan Estates. This room was windowless and small for this size of wedding party, but we made it work with a video light to try and be as unobtrusive as possible. This gown is one of my favourite ball gowns from this year so far….a beautiful blush pink with lace bodice and flower crystals going down the length of the gown from her low cut back. JUST STUNNING!
The ceremony was held outside in the courtyard below with it’s beautiful stone staircase and wrought iron fencing and gate. The backdrop was lovely on either side and although there wasn’t a lot of room to maneuver around the space was ideal for this ceremony.
After a quick family photo session in front of the Estate we moved on to photos with the bridal party in wooded clearing as we were being moved for another wedding coming out.
We had no idea that we weren’t allowed to photograph on the front lawn with the Vaughan Estates as the backdrop because it was promised to the other wedding happening, which is ideally the best places for photography at this venue in my opinion, but we managed to get some beautiful photos before being moved along to any other area. The trick to this system at this particular venue is that you stagger your ceremony times and by the looks of it we finished our ceremony a good hour before the other brides wedding ceremony was over which allowed me to sneak them on the grass for these beautiful photos.
After being told to move we went to this spot that I’m sure no one else really thought about shooting there because it’s an old brown garage with garbage dumped in front, but I can make anything work and the light was stunning at this time of day so I took them up the hill for a few images and then down the hill to the garage.
Then they were ready to go and grab a drink so I just photographed them walking back with a little direction here and there.
